From Farmer Scott
If we have warmer temperatures coming up in the daytimes, it will help to ripen the grapes left yet to harvest. The cool night temperatures of fall are a clear sign of the change of the season, marking the coming frost that will end our summer crops. I’m hoping for another few weeks before that happens! Last week, with the unusual cold weather, there was actually a slight frost that damaged a portion of the tomato field.
A couple of months back we had some damage that occured to our website. As a result, Google has a warning posted for our site. The website itself is all clean and accessible at this point, but if you want to avoid seeing the Google alert, go directly to the site instead of to Google (I know many of you like to do a Google search and then just push a button to get there). We have requested that Google review the site, so the alert will soon be cleared. Sorry for the effect on your access to the newsletter online.
Please join us THIS SATURDAY for the farm harvest and herb festival – horse-drawn carriage rides just added for kids of all ages! And our neighbor across the street, Joaquin, will be selling pumpkins. Also, don’t miss the essential oil distillation demonstration at 4:00. I’ll be giving a farm tour at 5:00. I think we’re going to have a lot of fun. Be well.
In your box today:
All from the “beyond organic” fields of the farm, our gourmet salad mix, corn, squash or beans, potatoes, sungold or heirloom tomatoes, saute mix, parsley, and cucumbers. Fruit subscribers will receive Sebastopol apples, grapes from Golden Nectar Farm in Windsor, and oranges from Fillmore.
This is the season of abundance! Your box reflects the bounty of the season, with all the contents from our lovingly tended fields. In fact, some weeks the value of your box will exceed its dollar cost, as we share the generosity of Mother Nature with you.
