February 17, 2015
Dear Members,
I would like to send out a warm welcome to the many new folks we have joining our CSA. We have been working hard to spread the word about buying direct from the farm.  This, along with so many of you inviting your friends out has inspired a surge in memberships over the past several weeks.  We are honored to be your farmer.
Last week I demonstrated our CSA juice box and used a vita-mix blender, a citrus juicer and a vegetable juicer to blend up some healthful drinks.  Many of you were interested in how we used the pulp in crackers and bread. I am re-posting the cracker method and am sharing this pulp bread recipe that can be easily adapted.  I hope you incorporate juicing in your life.  I have been an avid “juicer” for over 10 years and highly recommend vegetable juices, fruit smoothies and infusions.
Lastly, I would love to see a big turn-out for our next on-the-farm event on March 16th from 2:00-4:00 with Jill Nussinow. She will demonstrate how to make healthy meals with a pressure cooker.  (See the left side-bar)

     Be Well,

Jennifer Branham

Honey Roasted Asian TurnipsHoney Roasted Asian Turnips

So many of you have tried my suggestion for roasted radishes.  Now consider roasting your turnips with honey.  They are so super tasty.  I suggest serving them separate from the turnip greens that you can later saute’ with lemon and garlic for a second vegetable dish.

Here is how you can Honey Roast your turnips:
Pre-heat oven to 375′
Arrange quartered turnips onto a large baking sheet with sides.Melt 1 Tablespoon of honey and 1 Tablespoon of butter together and drizzle over the turnips. Season with 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper then toss to coat the turnips thoroughly.
Roast for 30-35 minutes or until lightly browned and tender.

Juice Box Contents:
Carrots (2 bunches), Apples, Chard, Lemons, Beets, Tangerines
Juice Pulp Crackers
Juice Pulp Crackers
Last week at the juicing demo, folks asked for a re-post of the recipe for crackers:  Simply save 2 to 3 cups of juice pulp, blend with 1/3 cup flax or chia seeds, enough water to made a loose paste and any spices or seasonings you desire.  I used pulp from carrots, celery and parsley then added lemon juice, black pepper, and sea salt.  Spread your mixture on waxed paper and dehydrate.  Once the crackers are about 1/2 dry, score using a pizza cutter and dry overnight or until crisp.
