CSA Boxes

Laguna Farm’s CSA program is the backbone of our farm business. With over 400 dedicated members, we are guaranteed to sell a great portion of our harvest to these loyal patrons. In turn, our CSA members get the best of what we have to offer.

Every CSA program is as unique as the farmers themselves. We like to think of Laguna Farm as a very flexible CSA. We offer farm pick up, home delivery and neighborhood drop-site locations where members can find their produce at a location that suits them. Members can switch between these offerings with just one week notice.

Laguna Farm features both produce and juicing boxes that contain a wide array of “in season” fruits and vegetables. We allow farm pick up members to trade out or exchange produce in their CSA box for items that may be more to their liking. Some of the trade options are limited, as we count on members to support the harvest, but we strive to accommodate different tastes and preferences.

Laguna Farm is a “year round” CSA. Because we do live and grow in a four season growing climate, we provide members with CSA shares throughout the year. During the late winter and spring months, our farm produce is limited, and we can not always fill the entire box value with our own produce. During these months, we support other small California organic farms by purchasing or trading produce to give our members a full and diverse CSA box. Through this practice, we have been able to keep the farm open throughout the year, provide delicious produce to our CSA members, and support other like-minded farms throughout the region.

Summer Produce Box

A very common question is “What is in a typical CSA box?”

Our CSA produce boxes are designed for folks that like a balance of cooked and raw vegetables with the occasional fruit. If you would like more fruit in your box, consider adding on a fruit share. Here are a few examples of our produce boxes throughout the season:

Spring: 1/2 Pound Salad Mix, Carrots, Sugar Snap Peas, Spring Onions, Shiitake mushrooms, Spinach, Parsley.

Juice Box

Spring Juice Box

Laguna Farm’s CSA juice box  is approximately 80% vegetables and 20% fruit. Everything in the juice box can be run through a juicer or blended to make fresh, nutritious juices or smoothies. If you would like more fruit, consider adding on a fruit share. Here are a few examples of our juice boxes throughout the season:

Winter: 1/2 Pound Spinach, Carrots (2 bunches), Beets, Tangerines, Celery, Oranges.

Spring: Kale, Beets, Fennel, Cucumber, Celery, Carrots, Nectarines, Lemons.

Summer: Chard, Cilantro, Cucumber, Berries, Melon, Carrots, Apples, Ginger.

Fall: Apples, Pears, Cucumber, Kale, Carrots 2 bunches, Beets, Ginger, Parsley.

The next common question, is “How many people does a CSA box feed?” It really depends on how often you cook and how much you eat and the percentage of vegetables you eat in a meal. We suggest a family of 2 schedule a produce box “every other week” to start. A common reason for quitting the CSA is people are not able to eat the large amount of produce and they feel bad composting it. If you want to add on a fruit share or some extra salad greens to your box, that is also an option. A family of 4 is served well with a CSA box every week. At the same time, it is not uncommon for a family of 1 or 2 to consume both a produce box, a juice box and purchase additional items from our farm store. These folks are eating a vegetable rich diet and can’t imagine any other way. Please refer to the videos on the website to see just how much you can expect to receive every week.
